We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate the calculator:

Job titles you enter — sent to our server, matched against a locally stored copy of the O*NET 31.0 occupation database, and sent to Google Gemini for AI analysis. If Gemini is unavailable, OpenAI may be used as a fallback.
IP address — used for rate limiting and abuse prevention. A rate-limit counter keyed to the IP address may be stored temporarily and is automatically pruned when stale.
Search history — job titles and risk scores are stored anonymously to show the recent searches panel. No name, email, or identifying information is stored alongside these entries.

To match your job title to a recognized O*NET occupation and generate an AI-powered automation/displacement estimate
To display anonymized recent search history on the calculator
To prevent abuse and excessive API usage via rate limiting
To improve the service and monitor for technical issues

Third-Party Services

Google Gemini — the matched occupation and O*NET-derived task context are sent to Google Gemini as the primary AI analysis provider. Google Privacy Policy

O*NET 31.0 Database — used locally for occupation validation, descriptions, and task context; your job-title query is not sent to O*NET.

LinkedIn Sharing

The optional LinkedIn post generator runs locally in your browser using the calculator result already displayed. It does not connect to your LinkedIn account, does not send the generated post to LinkedIn automatically, and does not make an additional AI request. If you choose the “Open LinkedIn” button, you leave this site and LinkedIn’s own privacy terms apply.

Cookies

We use essential first-party cookies for security and abuse prevention. A session-only PHP cookie maintains the security token that protects calculator and contact-form requests against cross-site request forgery. We also set a random first-party device identifier for up to one year to help enforce reasonable calculator usage limits and reduce automated or repeated abuse across refreshed sessions or changing IP addresses. These cookies are marked Secure, HttpOnly, and SameSite=Lax and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. The abuse-control database stores one-way hashes of device/IP identifiers rather than the raw values. Third-party services such as YouTube or Amazon may set their own cookies or storage when you interact with their content or links.

Data Retention

Anonymous occupation results may be cached for performance and recent-search display. Per-installation recent-search records are pruned after 30 days. Shared O*NET-based analysis and video-match records may be retained for up to 90 days for maintenance and diagnostics, but are reused for no more than 30 days before refresh. Shared cache rows contain occupation-level content only and are not tied to a visitor name, email address, or LinkedIn account. Stale rate-limit records are automatically pruned after 7 days.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted information and we will promptly delete it.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, input sanitization, rate limiting, and Content Security Policy headers.

Affiliate Disclosure
